The temple lies north to the city of Ioannina, in Limnopoula territory on the way to Perama. In this place, the women used to wash their clothes, so the church took the name Kopanon from the wooden thick sticks that they were using. The church that dates back to 1611, was destroyed in 1820 and rebuilt in 1843. Its main donator was Nousias Xrisos who belonged to the guild of fez-makers. The church is connected with myth and history. According to tradition, Kira Frosini, spent her last night before her execution in this church, accompanied by another 17 young women. The interior of the church also served as an ammunition storage during the Balkan wars, due to its proximity to the lake. The revolutionaries used to hide weapons here, carefully folded inside animal skin.
Of special interest is the wooden temple of the church with the icon of St. Nikolaos and that of the Three Ierarches. The church also has many relics. Quite remarkable is a silver reliquary made in 1784 by the famous silvercraft from Kallarites, named Nikolaos Pontikis.
