One of the sporting activities in Lake Pamvotis is water skiing. A positive point concerning the progress of this activity in Ioannina is that the European Federation chose Ioannina to hold the European Championship +35 in 2014.
The athletes of “Water Skiing Club Ioanninon” have honoured the city with medals in International, European, Balkan and Mediterranean games in the 1980s and 1990s, as well as winning the national championship for many years.
A sports association named “PAMVOTIS SKI CLUB” has been established in Ioannina, since December 2008.
The association is active in both snow and water skiing and aims to spread and develop all forms of skiing in the area. During the first year of operation it has already reconstructed the conceded N.S.S.C.I (NATIONAL SAILING SPORTS CENTRE OF IOANNINA) prefabricated buildings in Limnopoula and within the space of N.S.S.C.I where the headquarter is.
